Hey there, Welcome.

I’m Adam Jones!

I started this blog to document some of favorite recipes from my three decade career in professional kitchens and to share these recipes with the world.

I live in Kansas City with my husband Gary and two beautiful kids – Ava and Aiden. Apart from blogging, I also teach culinary classes, take my kiddos to all of their sport activities and love spending quality time with family and friends.

More About Me

I have always been a big fan of food. My dad was an engineer by trade, but cooked a lot on weekends. When I was 13, we moved to Kansas City, and instead of moping around all summer, my dad took me down to the local cafe and got me a job as a  dishwasher. I hated it. I didn’t like the work, it was grueling and taxing. But he convinced me to go back the second day, which sucked a little bit less, and then the third day, which sucked a little bit less, and by the fourth day, I started to see some things that were gratifying. By the end of the week, I loved my job.  This was how it all started for me.

Obviously being a dishwasher was short lived, as I was promoted into cooking and then later more serious cooking. By the age of 17, I was running two restaurants here in Kansas City as kitchen manager with a staff of about 45 between both restaurants.

My Journey

Once I got out of high school, I knew I wanted to pursue being a chef seriously. I moved to California and attended the California Culinary Academy. Shortly after I graduated, I was a sous chef for The Franciscan Restaurant in San Francisco. In a short period of time, I was promoted to executive sous chef, and then shortly after executive chef. I was just 25 years old.

I was very active in the restaurant community in the Bay Area. I served as chef-chair for the American Heart Association gala events and the SOS (Share Our Strength) events for a number of years. I also did regular cooking segments for ABC News.

After the Franciscan, I went on to work for renowned chef Michael Mina for a period of time. Then, worked as the food & beverage director for the Hotel Whitcomb, as well as the executive chef for the Market Street Grill which was the restaurant in their foyer. I served on the executive committee for the hotel, while still able to do all my creations in the restaurant.

Nowadays, I am a family man, and work part-time as a culinary instructor in hopes of educating and inspiring the next generation of food enthusiasts.

My Mission

I believe educating people about food and ingredients will help individuals understand more about themselves and ultimately enriching their lives.
